Position summary
The Center for Adventist Research seeks a graduate student to assist with special projects by conducting historical research on Seventh-day Adventist history. Work will involve using CAR’s archival collections and other resources to prepare materials for publications, exhibits, and outreach.
Qualifications summary
Strong research and writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Proficient in using library and archival resources, compiling and organizing historical information, and preparing accurate, well-documented research outputs. Skilled with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace; knowledge of Adventist history, archival practices, and additional language proficiency preferred.
Duties and responsibilities

Conduct research using primary and secondary sources.

Compile and summarize findings for staff use.

Prepare bibliographies, timelines, and reference notes.

Assist with organizing and preserving research materials.

Support CAR outreach projects as needed.
Supervisory responsibilities
None.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

Enrolled in an Andrews University graduate program for 2025–2026.

Strong research and writing skills.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Attention to detail and accuracy.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):

Knowledge of Adventist history.

Experience in archives or special collections.

Familiarity with Library of Congress call numbers and library catalogs.

Familiarity with citation styles (Chicago/Turabian).

Additional language skills relevant to Adventist history.
