Christian performing artist Brandon Heath is in concert at the Howard Performing Arts Center on the campus of Andrews University on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009. The singer and song writer is the first artist of the series for the Howard Center’s 2009–2010 Howard Center Presents… His single, “Give Me Your Eyes,” landed the number one spot on Billboard’s Hot Christian AC radio chart for 14 weeks as well as Number 1 on iTunes Christian Song Chart for seven months.

Grammy-nominated Brandon Heath is a three-time Dove Award Winner this year with Song of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song for “Give Me Your Eyes” as well as the prestige of Male Vocalist of the Year. His album “What If We” was released August of 2008 following his debut album “Don’t Get Comfortable” in September of 2006. The songs on “What If We” all focus on community—a topic heavy on Brandon’s mind. “All great ideas start with the phrase ‘what if we.’ If anything, I love a title that’s a good conversation-starter,” Heath said, describing the title of his album.

Heath wrote or co-wrote all of the songs he performs. “My first love is songwriting,” he explains. He has collaborated with many great names in Christian music including Dan Haseltine of Jars of Clay. “You can take some of their life experiences and meld them with your own and come up with some truly original thoughts,” says Heath of his collaboration efforts.

Tickets for Brandon Heath can be purchased by calling the Howard Performing Arts Center box office at 269-471-3560.
