Michigan’s Laureate Brings Poetry to the People
About a dozen people turned out on Nov. 15 to hear Comer read from her books, “American Family: A Syndrome” (Finishing Line Press, 2018), and “Tapping Out: Poems” (Northwestern University Press, 2020).
Andrews University English professor Scott Moncrieff introduced Comer and led a brief question and answer session with her. He teaches creative writing and poetry, among other subjects. Comer had visited and read the previous day at Andrews University.
“To have a really noteworthy poet come to Berrien Springs is not an everyday occasion,” Moncrieff said afterwards. “It's an awesome opportunity, and I think her poems are very interesting.”
