Local Superintendent Honored at Andrews Event

The “Speaking Up With Women” event held on March 7, at the Howard Performing Arts Center on the campus of Andrews University, aims to celebrate and empower women in the region. This event showcased inspiring women leaders from diverse backgrounds, and among the distinguished honorees, Patricia “Trish” Robinson, Superintendent of Buchanan Community Schools, was recognized for her leadership in the community.

Patterson has served the past four years as superintendent and is the first African American to hold this position in the district. With a career spanning 27 years in education, Patterson enjoys fostering the development of early learners. She earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology and a second Master’s in School Administration with a specialized focus on Early Childhood.

“The Buchanan Community Schools Board of Education is honored to acknowledge Superintendent Patricia Robinson’s outstanding dedication to the community,” the board shared in a press release. “The award she has received is a testament to her commitment to education, equity, and the betterment of the educational experience for students and educators alike. Her tireless efforts and leadership qualities have not only enriched the educational experience for students but have also inspired her colleagues and community members.”
