Membership in these congregations has grown from 2,087 to over 9,960, alongside a remarkable eight-fold increase in both annual baptisms and tithe collections.

…

Despite this explosive growth, conferences face challenges in hiring qualified pastors fluent in English, leading to the increased reliance on part-time pastors like Hakiza, who is employed full-time elsewhere.

Since graduating from the Seventh-day Theological Seminary at Andrews University in 2008, Hakiza works as a supervisor in the Custodial Services department at Andrews University. With a heart for pastoral ministry, he began volunteering at the Bethel Community Church in Lansing, Michigan.

<<< Read the full story at the Lake Union Herald site >>>
Thu, 03 Oct 2024 16:54:46 +0000 Andrews Students Receive Professional Training http://www.andrews.edu/agenda/65873
On September 19, a group of senior education majors from Andrews University met at the Adventist Church’s Lake Union Conference headquarters in Berrien Springs, Michigan, United States, for a full day of professional development, where they practiced interview skills and met educational administrators throughout the union territory.

The experience was a win-win for both students and leaders as it afforded administrators, both public and parochial, an opportunity to see the upcoming teacher candidates and potential teachers for their own school systems.

<<< Read the full story at the Adventist Review site >>>
Thu, 03 Oct 2024 16:54:11 +0000 The Visionary Spirit of J.N. Andrews http://www.andrews.edu/agenda/65872
The cause of Christ suffers for the lack of faithful, devoted men. It is not great men that are the strength of the cause of truth, but men of piety and experience, who live not for themselves, but for Him that died for them and rose again. This class is the strength of the church, for they make God their strength and their dependence. It is not rich men that are demanded. . . . It is not men of great minds, but men of great hearts, that God is pleased to accept. Great talents and abundant wealth might be rendered of inestimable service in the cause of Christ. But for the most part, Satan is able to enlist all this in his own service.

<<< Read the full editorial by J.N.
