Stephen Zork, conductor. </em></strong></p> <p> 8:00 p.m. / February 21, 2026 / Howard Performing Arts Center. $0 &ndash; $7 admission ($8.50 with online purchase fees)&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="https://howard.andrews.edu/events/">https://howard.andrews.edu/events/</a> for more information.</p> <p> This Saturday evening, February 21 at 8:00 p.m. the Andrews University Chorale and Singers will present a special collaborative choral program with the University of Notre Dame Chorale under the direction of Stephen Zork.&nbsp; The concert is family-oriented and features thoughtful, edifying, and playful repertoire with allusions to nature&rsquo;s narratives on love, longing, gratitude, and hope.&nbsp; This concert is a wonderful way to help melt away the winter blues as it opens with a set three German songs: <em>An die Musik </em>by Franz Schubert,<em>Ein kleiner, h&uuml;bscher Vogel, </em>by Johannes Brahms, and the rapturous <em>Morgen</em> by Richard Strauss.</p> <p> Additional repertoire includes:</p> <ul> <li> &ldquo;Skylark&rdquo; arranged by John Rutter featuring <em>mezzo-soprano</em> Lyra Lacson, and &ldquo;The Mother Whale Lullaby&rdquo; by Larry Nickel.</li> </ul> <ul> <li> Larry Nickel&rsquo;s settings of three delightful poems by Sarah Teasdale &ldquo;April Song&rdquo;, &ldquo;May Night&rdquo;, and &ldquo;Dusk in June&rdquo; are contrasted by Eric Whitacre&rsquo;s setting of Robert Frost&rsquo;s poem &ldquo;Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening&rdquo;.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li> Additional aspects of love and yearning are expressed through &ldquo;Yesterday&rdquo; arranged by Bob Chilcott, <em>Una Furtiva Lagrima</em> by Gaetano Donizetti featuring tenor Jonathan Clough, and &ldquo;Can&rsquo;t Buy Me Love&rdquo; arranged by Keith Abbs.</li> </ul> <p> The concert concludes with the award-winning and internationally renowned choirs performing an endearing and heart-warming setting of &ldquo;Danny Boy&rdquo; arranged by Larry Nickel, featuring Charles Reid, tenor.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> __________________________</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <strong>Andrews University Singers</strong></p> <p> <strong>Conductor: Stephen Zork</strong></p> <p> The Andrews University Singers is the select choir of the Department of Music and represents Andrews University locally, nationally and abroad through concert tours, television broadcast and audio recordings. Trynchuk, faculty at Andrews University, has performed internationally as a soloist and recitalist in more than 15 countries. Braslavsky, formerly a faculty member at The Juilliard School and the Mannes School of Music, currently serves on the piano faculty of the Mozarteum University of Salzburg.
