The Lake Michigan Youth Orchestra is the capstone of the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra's educational outreach programs.  Members of the Youth Symphony have the opportunity to participate in sectionals and rehearsals with members of the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, perform four concerts during the season, and to perform in chamber groups in the Mendel Center lobby before SMSO concerts.  The Youth Orchestra program began in 1978 and over the past 35 years has retained the flexibility to adjust its focus to meet the changing needs of student musicians.  For more information about the Lake Michigan Youth Orchestra, see the educational link at smso.org or call the SMSO office at 269-982-4030.
