Robert & Lillis Kingman Lecture on Science

This year’s Robert & Lillis Kingman Lecture on Science and Society will be given by Karen Lozano, Chair and Trustee Professor of the Department of Materials Science and NanoEngineering at Rice University, on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 7:00 pm in Newbold Auditorium (refreshments at 6:00 pm). The first Mexican woman to earn a PhD in engineering from Rice University, Karen has won numerous wards, including being named the 2025 Higher Education Professional of the Year by Sloan Scholars, the 2019 Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics,and Engineering Mentoring, and 2015 Engineer of the Year by Great Minds in STEM. Her presentation title is Engineering the Future: The Role of Nanofibers in Innovation and Societal Impact.
