Biblical and Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology—PhD
	
	
    	The PhD in Biblical and Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology program prepares students to study human history in the Near East and the Mediterranean world through the analysis of artifacts, physical remains, ancient texts and other archaeological research techniques. This program will prepare you for teaching positions and/or archaeological research in institutions of higher education around the world.
    
 
	
		
			PROGRAM LENGTH
		
    	64 credits for students with a Master’s degree in archaeology, anthropology, biblical or ancient near Eastern history. Can typically be completed by full time students in 5–6 years.
    
		
			APPLICATION DEADLINES
		
    	Prospective students must submit their applications by the dates listed below.

    		Summer Session 1 (May–August): April 1
-

				ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
			
    	- 
    		A master’s degree (or non-U.S equivalent) in an area appropriate to the major from an accredited institution and a minimum graduate GPA of 3.5 (Applicants with lower GPA may be admitted upon consideration of the composite profile).
- 
    		Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in specified ancient and two modern foreign languages that support the specific research goal—these would typically be selected from the following: Latin, Hebrew, Greek, French, German, Italian and Arabic.
- 
    		Three Recommendations from professionals such as advisors, major professors, and employers.
- 
    		Resume describing employment, research or special projects.
- 
    		GRE General test from exam taken within five years. 
- 
    		Statement of Purpose reflecting your philosophical perspective, personal, professional, academic goals, and reasons of seeking the graduate program.
- 
    		Writing sample (term paper, thesis, or research report) giving evidence of the applicant’s ability to carry out research and to present results in a standard and acceptable style.
- 
    		TOEFL, IELTS or PTE (academic): Students whose language of education is not English must submit English proficiency tests scores.
-
